Internet sales at the Sportsman's Guide Inc. accounted for 21% of all sales in the second quarter, up from 15% in the second quarter a year ago, the company announced today. The Sportsman Guide sells discount outdoor gear at sportsmansguide.com and at bargainoutfitters.com as well as through a catalog. Growth in Internet sales accounted for all the growth in the second quarter. Catalog sales were virtually flat in the quarter, the company reported.
South St. Paul, MN-based The Sportsman’s Guide reported sales of $31.8 million in the second quarter, a 5% increase over the $30.3 million reported for the same period one year ago.
For the quarter, the Company reported a net loss of $207,000 vs. the net loss of $876,000 in last year’s Q2. The company attributed the reduced losses to lower catalog advertising, fixed costs and interest expense.
For the first half, sales were $70.7 million, a 7% increase over the $66.3 million reported for the first two quarters of 2000.
