With ex-Gateway web analytics director on board, OX2 enters German market
David Rhee, a former director of analytics for computer e-retailer Gateway Inc., will head OX2’s new office in Frankfurt, Germany, as the web analytics firm expands in Europe. Rhee plans to develop analytics tools for social networks, Web 2.0 and other areas of consumer interactivity, he says. U.S. analytics expert Eric Peterson has also joined OX2 as a shareholder, board member and contributing consultant, the firm says.
OX2, based in Brussels, Belgium, is expected strong growth in the web analytics consulting market across Europe, where it figures that only 7% of European companies have set up effective processes to leverage web analytics. “We decided to explore the German market after numerous requests from clients in Germany,” says CEO Rene DeChamps Otamendi. “Germany certainly shows the highest potential for growth in Europe, and web analytics expertise is virtually non-existent there.”
OX2 also intends to launch additional offices in other European markets over the next few years as demand warrants, he adds.
Rhee, an expert in using web analytics applied to social networks, says he’ll be working on ways to use analytics to show the impact of social networks on e-commerce transactions. “Using proprietary algorithms developed in my incomplete doctoral dissertation, we’ll see how much additional lift can be generated by scoring members of an online community by their ability (proven and predicted) to influence others to purchase,” he says in a recent blog posting.
Peterson, founder and CEO of Portland, OR-based consulting firm Web Analytics Demystified, will travel to Europe to assist OX2’s European clients as needed, OX2 announced this week.
