Interwoven acquires Optimost
In a move to enhance its position in web site content management and site design, Interwoven Inc. is acquiring Optimost LLC in a deal valued at $52 million.
Optimost provides search engine optimization services to a number of web retailers and consumer brand manufacturers, including Hewlett-Packard Co., QVC Inc. and Lillian Vernon. Under the terms of the deal, Interwoven will pay cash for all outstanding shares of Optimost and assume certain existing employee stock options.
“This acquisition supports our strategy to power our customers’ online presence, and we believe it puts Interwoven at the top of the short list of a company’s must-have partners for online business,” says Interwoven CEO Joe Cowan.
Interwoven, which supplies enterprise content management applications to companies such as Microsoft Corp., is acquiring New York-based Optimost for its expertise in real-time multivariable testing and web site optimization. “By acquiring Optimost, we are providing customers with a powerful solution for optimizing their content – which creates the connection point between the visitor and the web – to provide the most compelling experience, faster, more efficiently, and more effectively than ever before,” says Cowan.
The deal is expected to be complete by the end of the fourth quarter. Interwoven’s online retailer clients include J.C. Penney Co. Inc. and Staples Inc.
