Glam Media names Fox Interactive Media exec to head new online ad division
Glam Media Inc., publisher of Glam.com and a network of more than 400 other web sites, blogs and magazines focused on women’s fashion and lifestyle trends, has named former Fox Interactive Media executive John Trimble to head a new online advertising division. It also appointed former House & Garden vice president and publisher Joe Lagani to direct Glam.com’s new Living lifestyles section. Both the ad division and GlamLiving launched last week.
Trimble, who reports to Glam Media chairman and CEO Samir Arora, fills the newly created position of executive vice president of sales and will oversee advertising sales for new audiences and markets.
The new ad division is expected to develop new advertising channels as well as audiences on the Glam Distributed Media platform using the contextual display and video advertising services of the Glam Evolution Ad Server, Glam Media says. Glam.com and the hundreds of web properties in the Glam Publisher Network provide fashion and lifestyles content supported by more than 130 brand advertisers, including Macy’s, Target, Bergdorf Goodman and Levi’s.
"The appointment of a senior sales executive from Fox Interactive, one of the few individuals who has helped build a $500 million plus advertising sales team at a top 5 Internet media company, marks the expansion of Glam Media`s Distributed Media platform for brand advertisers across a highly-targeted audiences and vertical channels,” Arora says.
At Fox Interactive Media, a unit of News Corp., Trimble oversaw all brand advertising for Fox Sports, MySpace, IGN, American Idol and Scout as senior vice president of advertising sales. He previously was vice president of advertising for Fox Interactive Sports and FoxSports.com.
Before his tenure at Fox, Trimble served as director of sales for SI.com, the web site of Sports Illustrated and as vice president of sales for the men’s vertical ad network Phase2Media. Earlier in his career, Trimble ran ad campaigns related to the Olympics and other sports events while at ISL Marketing and other sports marketing firms.
"Glam Media`s fast rise—with a reach of over 22 million US unique monthly visitors—just two years after launch, underscores the underlying changes that are occurring in Internet media today," said Trimble. "As Glam continues to expand as one of the fastest in growth and in reach, there is a significant opportunity to create new channels and develop new audiences to help bring brand advertising online."
At GlamLiving, which provides content on travel, food, home furnishings and entertainment, Lagani joins as vice president and general manager, a newly created position. He has been charged with bringing together original content and programming on Glam.com, the GlamNest blog (blog.glam.com/glamnest) and the Glam Publisher Network.
"We are thrilled to have a Conde Nast veteran like Joe Lagani, who successfully managed several $100-$250 million in annual advertising sales businesses, join Glam Media to help brand advertisers reach women online," Arora says.
"GlamLiving is poised to take on home, design, travel, food and entertaining with the Glam Media formula which appeals to sophisticated and successful women—helping them live as stylishly as they look," Lagani says. "Many marketers are challenged to find online media opportunities which offer both environment and scale—Glam Media`s distributed media model helps fill those needs."
Prior to his work at Conde Nast, where he served as publisher of House & Garden, Lagani was vice president and publishing director for Meredith Corp., where he oversaw units including Country Home, the American Baby Group and Traditional Home. Earlier, he held advertising positions at Ladies Home Journal and Woman’s Day.
Glam Media also named Erika Lenkert, a writer and editor of content on food, travel and lifestyle trends, as editorial director of GlamLiving.
