The Nielsen Company has reorganized its Internet and mobile measurement services into new units called Nielsen Online and Nielsen Mobile.
Nielsen Online is comprised of the company’s Nielsen/NetRatings and BuzzMetrics services, which measure online audiences, advertising, commerce and consumer behavior. More than 2,000 clients in 16 countries subscribe to Nielsen Online services, including retailers, advertisers, web site publishers and technology companies.
Itzhak Fisher, former executive chairman of BuzzMetrics, will lead the unit as executive chairman. Manish Bhatia, former executive vice president of Nielsen/NetRatings, will serve as president of global services and U.S. sales, while BuzzMetrics co-founder Jonathan Carson will serve as president of Nielsen Online’s international organization.
Nielsen Mobile incorporates the recently acquired mobile consumer research firm Telephia and other Nielsen initiatives in the wireless arena. More than 125 companies around the world subscribe to Nielsen Mobile services that measure consumers’ views on mobile services and commerce and what they do with their cell phones and other mobile devices.
Former Telephia CEO Sid Gorham has been named president and CEO of Nielsen Mobile. Former Telephia executives John Forese, Jesse Goranson and Tom Stahl will head up product management, client services and operations, respectively.
Nielsen Wireless, a recently announced initiative to measure wireless media, will be folded into Nielsen Mobile. Nielsen Ringscan, which measures downloaded ringtones, will remain part of the Nielsen Entertainment organization.
“With this new structure, we are prepared to focus with even more intensity on delivering the complete picture of consumer activity and behavior in the digital space and across all media platforms,” says David Calhoun, CEO of The Nielsen Company. The privately held company has headquarters in Haarlem, the Netherlands, and New York City.
