Staples, you’re getting a Dell
Beginning Nov. 11, 1,400 Staples Inc. stores will sell computers, printers and ink, and other products made by Dell Inc. Staples.com also will carry the product lines.
The agreement makes Staples the only big-box office supply company to carry Dell products and is another step by the computer maker to reach customers through different channels. Dell, No. 4 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, recently announced relationships with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. in the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Mexico, Gome stores in China, Bic Camera Inc. in Japan and Carphone Warehouse in the United Kingdom.
“Dell pioneered the ‘easy button’ in computing through our direct business model. Now with Staples we’re bringing all the benefits of direct to shoppers across America,” says Michael Dell, chairman and CEO. “With Staples, we are underscoring our commitment to listen to customers and deliver what they want -- new and exciting ways to experience Dell’s award winning products with the same great prices and convenience.”
The initial products offered at Staples will include notebooks, desktops, inkjet and laser printers, and monitors. Staples, No. 2 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, also will carry ink and toner for most Dell printers.
Staples also announced that it plans to join Dell’s “Plant a Forest for Me” environmental initiative, which enables organizations worldwide to share best practices and facilitate the planting of trees in sustainable managed reforestation projects.
Coinciding with America Recycles Day on Nov. 15, Staples customers who buy Dell products from Nov. 11-17 can recycle office technology for free. Staples already offers office technology recycling for a $10 fee.
