HarborFreight.com Chooses Vignette To Enhance Its Online Marketing Strategy With Targeted E-Mail Solution
Largest Tool and Equipment Catalog Retailer Increases Revenues, Profits Using Vignette Applications
AUSTIN, Texas (June 12, 2001) Vignette Corp. (Nasdaq: VIGN), the leading provider of customer-driven Internet applications, today announced that online retailer HarborFreight.com, the largest tool and equipment catalog retailer, with over 5 million customers, has successfully deployed Vignette® applications to interact more effectively with customers and improve the profitability of its weekly e-mail campaigns.
To enhance online sales of tools and equipment, HarborFreight.com recently implemented the Vignette® Relationship Management Server (RMS) to deploy an e-mail recommendation solution that makes it easy for companies to set up and deliver targeted e-mail promotions. This sophisticated application predicts which products or services are likely to appeal to individual customers and inserts that content into personalized e-mail messages.
In addition to improving overall customer satisfaction, HarborFreight.com’s solution ramped up revenue through automated cross-selling recommendations, leading to a quick return on investment.
“In the first three months of operation, the e-mail recommendation solution using Vignette Relationship Management Server paid for itself by generating a significant increase in our response rate, order quantity and per-customer profit margins,” said David Martel, vice president of marketing at HarborFreight.com. “HarborFreight is pleased to see personalized e-mail, created using Vignette’s applications, generate a substantial lift in response rates and sales-per-customer relative to our best control messages.”
Vignette Relationship Management Server is part of Vignette’s suite of customer-driven Internet applications, which includes Vignette® Content Management Server, which can be used to design and manage the content for targeted campaigns, Vignette Relationship Management Server, which enables the analysis and segmentation of customers and the management of campaigns, and the Vignette® Multi-channel Communication Server, which sends e-mail.
“HarborFreight.com’s experience confirms that customized e-mail communications translate to highly effective marketing,” said Thomas E. Hogan, president and chief operating officer of Vignette. “The
e-mail recommendation solution adds value to Vignette’s suite of applications by providing a complete targeted e-mail solution that can be configured to maximize e-business objectives.”
Vignette Professional Services was responsible for successfully implementing HarborFreight.com.
