Free chocolate no longer under wraps


Hershey Foods Corp. has launched an interactive promotion, Get It with WrapperCash, that rewards customers with points redeemable online.

With more than one billion unique redemption codes, the web-driven customer rewards program enables consumers to accumulate points needed to bid on items available in Hershey’s online auction house, powered by eBay, or simply purchase products in a new online store.

WrapperCash codes appear inside specially marked wrappers of myriad Hershey products. Consumers can go to Hersheys.com to turn them into online currency and spend them at Hershey’s online Redeem Now store. Or consumers can transform the codes into points and go to the web site’s auction section to bid on items. Customers can bid daily on products in three levels ranging from t-shirts to televisions to cars. Winners are determined by the highest number of WrapperCash points bid on each item.

Hershey Foods, No. 260 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, will run the WrapperCash promotion through Oct. 31.
