Web sales at cataloger Musician’s Friend Inc. increased 12.7% to $59.7 million in first quarter 2006 from $53 million during the same period last year. Sales include orders placed on the company’s Musician’s Friend, Giardinelli, Amazon and Musician.com web sites.

The growth of web sales reflects the continued trend of Musician’s Friend’s catalog customers browsing the catalogs then using the web to place orders along with the success of Internet promotions, the company says.

Total Q1 2006 sales for the company jumped 18.8% to $470.7 million compared with $396.4 million in Q1 2005. Web sales for first quarter 2006 represented 6.9% of the company’s total sales.

Owned by Guitar Center Inc., Musician’s Friend, No. 50 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, rang up web sales in 2005 of $211.9 million, a 25.3% leap over 2004’s $169.1 million.
