GE Wants To Bring Good E-Commerce Sales To Light

The General Electric Company announced today that it has signed an agreement with JGSullivan Interactive, Inc. to place GE Appliances' content on the Internet for over 1,500 GE authorized independent retailers. These Internet sites will have full transactional capability and allow the consumer to purchase product and services direct from the dealer. These transactional Web sites have been created for major buying groups - Associated Volume Buyers, KEY America, MARTA, Best Brands Plus and Nationwide - under the address of http://www.HomeAppliances.com.
The agreement represents GE's strong commitment to the independent retail dealer channel and the growth of the Internet. GE's agreement also provides participating dealers access to the company's powerful business-to-business e- commerce vehicle, CustomerNet, allowing dealers to more effectively manage their business and market to their customers. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Consumers will now be able to shop for GE Appliances on-line via dealer Internet stores," says David M. Cote, President and CEO of GE Appliances. GE's agreement with JGSI will place GE Appliances' content on all 1500 dealer Internet stores. A shopper can now purchase an appliance via the Internet through HomeAppliances.com. The web-site utilizes a dealer locator to identify the closest dealers to the consumer to fulfill the order.
JGSullivan Interactive has developed e-commerce solutions which allow manufacturers to participate in the Internet-sales boom by utilizing their existing retail distribution channel. This new approach benefits both manufacturers and retailers by making local stores the Internet sales, fulfillment and delivery partners of participating manufacturers.
