AOL buys Lightningcast video advertising company
Strengthening its position in the broadband video advertising market, AOL LLC will merge Lightningcast Inc.’s streaming media technology and ad network operations as a new subsidiary of AOL’s Advertising.com unit.
Advertising.com’s recently launched video network will be combined with Lightningcast’s InStream video network and operate under the InStream name.
”This acquisition will allow AOL and Advertising.com to continue to create cutting-edge ad solutions, own and further develop the leading strategic advertising platform, and set the course for the future of online video,” said Mike Kelly, president of AOL Media Networks.
Lightningcast’s technology platform provides owners and distributors of broadband video and audio content with the ability to insert ads, manage campaigns and produce impact reports.
Lightningcast will continue to be led by CEO Tom MacIsaac.
