JCPenney.com stars in webHancer’s rankings of apparel sites
J.C. Penney Co. Inc.’s web site is the star among apparel retailer web sites in speed of downloading of pages, says a new report from Ottawa, ON-based webHancer Corp.
WebHancer tested popular apparel sites abercrombie.com, ae.com, eddiebauer.com, gap.com, jcpenney.com, jcrew.com and oldnavy.com and electronic sites bestbuy.com, circuitcity.com and futureshop.ca.
WebHancer says that although it tied with Gap.com and OldNavy.com for the lowest median page load times when averaged across all access speeds, J.C. Penney is the best performing web site by virtue of having the lowest page load times in each of the access speeds--dial-up, cable/DSL, broadband.
JCPenney.com’s median load time was 2.4 seconds, 6.4 via dial-up, 1.1 via cable/DSL and 0.6 via broadband. Oldnavy’s load times were 2.4, 10.9, 1.4 and 0.6; gap.com’s were 2.4, 12.2, 1.7 and 0.7.
WebHancer says that apparel sites exhibited median stop page load times that were considerably higher than the median page load times of all web sites.
For electronics sites, Circuit City is the winner in terms of median page load times due to its comparatively small page sizes, webHancer says.
WebHancer has launched realenduser.com, where web users can learn about the performance of various sites. Realenduser.com also provides Internet users a community to share and compare experiences related to web site performance and satisfaction..
