Musician’s Friend names Craig Johnson as president and COO
Musician’s Friend, the direct marketing arm of Guitar Center Inc., has promoted Craig Johnson to the newly created position of president and chief operating officer. He most recently served as the unit’s executive vice president of merchandising and marketing.
"We are very pleased to recognize Craig`s contributions to Musician`s Friend over the last eight years through his appointment to this new role," says Musician’s Friend CEO Robert Eastman. "Craig is a highly experienced direct response executive and has a deep understanding of our business and industry. We are confident he will continue to contribute to the implementation of our strategic initiatives and, in his new leadership role, will help drive the long-term growth of our company."
Prior to rejoining Musician`s Friend, No. 50 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide to Retail Web Sites, in 2003, Johnson was senior vice president of merchandising for Oriental Trading Company. From 1998 to 2003, Johnson held the position of senior vice president of merchandising and marketing for Musician`s Friend. He also served as vice president of merchandising for Golfsmith International, director of inventory planning for Coldwater Creek, and as vice president, merchandising and inventory planning for Music Sound Exchange, a Time Warner company.
