Harte-Hanks Implements BroadVisionŽ E-business Applications to Establish New
Revenue Channel for Rhodes Furniture
REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--June 25, 2001-- BroadVision, Inc.
(Nasdaq:BVSN - news), a leading provider of personalized e-business
applications, today announced that Rhodes Furniture, a top furniture
retailer in the Southeast and Midwest, has used a suite of e-business
applications from BroadVision to build and power its new online presence,
www.rhodesfurniture.com. Interactive services company Harte-Hanks, Inc.
(NYSE:HHS - news) worked with Rhodes Furniture to implement BroadVisionŽ
Retail Commerce(TM), creating a new online channel that allows Rhodes`
customers to browse products and make purchases online. The recently
launched site currently serves more than 100,000 unique visitors per month.
BroadVision partner Harte-Hanks, the consulting firm that manages Rhodes`
direct marketing efforts and customer relations program, used BroadVision`s
e-business application suite to create a Web site that offers customers a
unique and reliable shopping experience. Features of the new site include an
interactive room planner, a store locater and real-time inventory and
pricing information. By entering a zip code, customers can search for and
purchase furniture online from Rhodes Furniture stores located in their
local delivery areas. Once an item is purchased, a sales receipt is issued
in the local Rhodes Furniture store and customers receive confirmation and
delivery information for their orders within 48 hours.
``One challenge customers face when buying furniture online is determining
whether or not the furniture will fit in a room given its size and shape.
The interactive room planner that Harte-Hanks created gives our customers
the ability to organize a room based on its dimensions. In addition, the new
site lets us provide personalized service to each customer, encouraging
repeat business and making it easy for them to shop online or at one of our
`brick and mortar` locations,`` said Steve Hurwitz, senior vice president of
Marketing at Rhodes Furniture.
``Their BroadVision-powered site gives Rhodes Furniture a new revenue
channel without having to add additional customer service staff,`` said
Chris Grejtak, chief marketing officer for BroadVision. ``Rhodes is well
known for high-quality customer service and staff responsiveness. They have
brought those same qualities to the web by creating an innovative site that
combines online shopping with the convenience of delivery from local
stores.``
