E3 Expands Capabilities of Leading Store Replenishment System for Retailers E3SLIM Sets the Bar for Scalability

ATLANTA (June 25, 2001) -- E3 Corp., a world leader in inventory management and Web-based collaborative solutions, today announced availability of E3SLIM® 4.3, the newest generation of its store-level inventory management software that adds new features and improved ease of use to help drive accurate consumer demand information and order execution throughout customers’ supply chains.

Powered by IBM eServer iSeries systems, E3SLIM is an industry-leading retail solution used to allocate inventory to more than 10,000 stores around the world, as well as the industry’s most scalable retail inventory management solution . "In the retail environment, where companies live or die based on their ability to rapidly meet fluctuating demand, scalability is a key requirement for any inventory management system," said Kim Stevenson, vice president of marketing, IBM eServer iSeries and mid-market servers. "As our benchmark results show, E3SLIM and IBM eServer iSeries continue to push the envelope on performance, scalability and value for our retail customers."

Innovative New Features
Version 4.3 of the E3SLIM software includes the latest innovations in inventory management focused on driving increased return on inventory investment at the store level. These enhancements expand the product’s functionality for incorporating store-level product allocation for maximum sell-through with fewer markdowns. The new version also incorporates flexible Item Groups to augment the product’s already rich Store Group functionality. The product also offers increased flexibility for rolling out new stores with optimized model functions and views into event profile analysis.

Client-server support delivers expanded options to graphically display the results of customer service and inventory investment policies, in addition to monitoring inventory performance, in order to help retailers make decisions based on a clear understanding of customer demand and inventory levels. Plus, users have increased flexibility to customize graphical views of data, so that each individual is presented with only relevant information and sees it in the way and order that he or she chooses.

E3SLIM 4.3 includes comprehensive navigation and filtering capabilities that make the product easier to use and more flexible, improving workflow by user or job function. In testing, users became more proficient in a shorter time and required less training. In addition, new screen designs both simplify a buyer’s view of complex data and provide a high degree of personalization options.

"E3SLIM is the engine that drives accurate consumer demand data throughout our customers’ inventory management processes and seamlessly integrates with our TOPS" product for synchronizing store-level demand drivers with the chain-wide inventory decisions made at the distribution center. E3SLIM also integrates with our collaborative applications to enable retailers to synchronizing inventory decisions with their suppliers in a seamless, secure way. So, maximizing the capabilities of this product has a positive impact on all of our solutions, resulting in higher levels of customer service and more efficient product movement throughout the supply chain," said Jim Schwender, retail industry marketing director at E3 Corp. "After all, E3 is about more than just delivering a better product; we’re about delivering significant business value rapidly to our customers. That’s how we judge our success."
