Industri-Matematik Launches VIVALDI Store Replenishment Software

Software Enables Retailers to Have Full Visibility and Control of Store Inventory from Warehouse to Store Shelf

Mt. Laurel, N.J. (June 26, 2001) – Industri-Matematik International Corp. (NASDAQ: IMIC) today launched VIVALDI Store Replenishment, new software that enables retailers to manage product inventory and replenish store shelves based on expected consumer demand. The software automates high-volume store replenishment and allows retailers to increase product availability at the shelf to drive increased sales and customer loyalty.

VIVALDI Store Replenishment software leverages store inventory levels, consumer-demand forecasts and point-of-sale (POS) information to generate replenishment orders to retail warehouses and third-party suppliers. As orders are processed, the software notifies individual stores with delivery items and dates.

“Retail industry research shows consumer defections are driven far more by out-of-stocks and poor service than by price or product quality,” said Richard Cardozo, director of retail industry solutions at Industri-Matematik. “Today’s consumers expect their favorite retailers to have products they want on the store shelf and available for purchase. VIVALDI Store Replenishment helps retailers reduce out-of-stock product levels while minimizing inventory investment and operating expenses.”

VIVALDI Store Replenishment uses information gathered from RF (radio frequency) equipped hand-held terminals, POS systems, and other in-store applications to determine inventory levels for all products in a store and applies this current inventory visibility to generate replenishment orders. The software automatically validates ordered items against an in-store product database for product identification, item status, upcoming promotions, availability and pack quantities.

Additionally, VIVALDI Store Replenishment can leverage point-of-sale information and consumer demand forecasting systems so store personnel have access to sales forecasts, historical product movement and promotional forecasts when making replenishment orders.

VIVALDI Store Replenishment manages strategic retail processes including:

* Item Management. The software integrates with existing item management systems to provide retailers with true item identity and visibility. An item can be identified by SKU (stockkeeping unit), UPC (universal product code), order code, PLU (price look-up), or shipping container code, helping retailers gain an accurate picture of which items are – and should be – carried in the store.

* Inventory Control. The software provides an accurate, real-time, store-level perpetual inventory by quantity, cost and retail. It tracks inventory changes resulting from receiving, front-end sales, inter/intra-store transfers, adjustments and physical inventory counts.

* Inventory Management. The software utilizes promotion planning, consumer demand forecasts, perpetual inventory and the supplier’s order/delivery schedule to optimize the inventory flow and ensure customer service levels are met.

Industri-Matematik’s VIVALDI retail solutions enable grocery, specialty hard goods and direct merchant retailers to implement new logistics practices to gain competitive advantage. They target distribution-intensive supply chain operations and complement merchandising and store operations applications. The products support multi-channel strategies, helping “bricks and mortar” retailers achieve world-class fulfillment and customer service in both traditional and e-business operations. Industri-Matematik’s applications also deliver the back-end distribution capabilities Internet-based retailers need to have fast, reliable logistics and warehouse processes.
