Sales at ValueVision’s ShopNBC.com hit $14 million, up 222% from year ago
Minneapolis-based ValueVision Media, which operates ShopNBC with content simultaneously broadcast on ShopNBC.com, reports that Internet sales reached $14 million in the second quarter, a record for the company and 222% over the second quarter of 2000. Second quarter Internet sales also were higher than last year’s fourth quarter holiday sales over the Internet, the company said.
ValueVision’s total revenue in the second quarter reached a record $105 million, up 17% from a year ago.
For the six months ended July 31, consolidated net sales were $217 million, up 24% over the same year ago period. Internet sales were $27 million, a 283% increase over last year.
Operating income for the second quarter showed a loss of $1.9 million vs. earnings of $2.3 million a year ago. For the first half, the company lost $1.075 million on an operating income basis vs. income of $3.8 million in last year’s first half.
