SYNCRA LAUNCHES CPFR RETAILER RAMP-UP INITIATIVE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Alignment of Strategic Business Processes with Industry Leading Supply Chain Collaboration Technology Drives Multi-Billion Dollar Opportunity

Chicago, IL. - Retail Systems 2001 Conference - June 26, 2001 - Syncra Systems, Inc., the premier provider of inter-enterprise supply chain collaboration solutions and the leader in Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR(r)) implementations, today announced the launch of its Retailer Ramp-up Initiativesm. Designed to help retailers rapidly seize the multi-billion dollar savings and sales benefits associated with supply chain collaboration, this initiative features a highly flexible and customizable menu of rapid deployment options, business impact modeling, and system integrator partner services leading to proven and measurable business value. This multi-pronged initiative also gives retailers the ability to immediately start collaborating with leading manufacturers that have already deployed Syncra`s CPFR solutions.

The Retailer Ramp-up Initiative builds upon Syncra`s extensive experience implementing supply chain collaboration solutions for more than 50 leading consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturers, retailers and eMarketplaces. By aligning a retailer`s strategic business objectives and processes with its key suppliers` forecasts and replenishment plans through Syncra`s supply chain collaboration technology, companies can realize immediate sales and cost avoidance benefits. Syncra is delivering this value through an array of products and services coupled with partnerships with leading strategy and consulting partners.

At the recent Grocery Manufacturers of America (GMA) Executive Conference during a panel discussion on CPFR, Nick Ioli, Jr., senior vice president and CIO of The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) commented that, "A&P will be executing CPFR across three streams: communication, training and organizational alignment. This begins at the top and permeates throughout the organization." He added, "Change management is vital."

The Retailer Ramp-up Initiative provides retailers with maximum flexibility of deployment, enabling them to choose the level and style of deployment that matches their strategic business processes. The most basic form is sending forecast data through Syncra to manufacturers who are then able to adjust their forecasts accordingly and deliver to the retailer improved service levels and cost avoidance. Being more proactive, a retailer can deploy its own private collaboration hub, connecting to all of its key trading partners. This option gives retailers the ability to interoperate with any private or public exchange and aggregate views across their entire trading community for maximum value.

At the center of the Retailer Ramp-up Initiative is Syncra`s industry-leading inter-enterprise supply chain collaboration platform. This open and vendor-neutral platform has been proven to scale to even the largest deployments in both private exchanges and within eMarketplaces. Syncra Ct(tm), used for private exchanges, and Syncra Xt(tm), used by eMarketplaces, enables manufacturers and retailers to synchronize their forecasts and promotion plans using the Internet, significantly reducing excess inventory, minimizing stock-outs, increasing sales at both the brand and category level, and improving customer service.

In AMR Research`s April 2001 research report titled, "Beyond CPFR: Retail Collaboration Comes of Age," Janet Suleski enumerates the benefits that retailers can achieve through collaboration. The analyst highlights that by using CPFR technology retailers will see store shelf stock rates improving by 2-8%, inventory levels lowering by 10-40%, sales increasing by 5-20%, and logistics costs decreasing by 3-4%. "For the retailer looking for a deployable CPFR system today, Syncra is the better choice," AMR reports.

"Syncra`s Retailer Ramp-up Initiative allows retailers to deploy CPFR quickly, securely and with immediate business impact," said Chris Sellers, president of Syncra Systems. "We understand that no two retailers have the same approach to collaboration and that successful deployments require highly flexible and customizable solutions that match a retailer`s strategic initiatives while at the same time be deployed quickly and non-intrusively."

Syncra is exhibiting at Retail Systems 2001 and is located at booth #2522.
