Tomax` RETAIL.net® Software is First Application To Be Implemented On Newly Released Oracle9i(tm)
SALT LAKE CITY, June 25, 2001...Tomax Corporation announced today that its
flagship product, RETAIL.net®, is the first application to successfully
implement the beta program of Oracle`s newly released 9i Database.
RETAIL.net, an e-business platform for multi-channel retail, supports the
critical functions necessary to run brick-and-mortar chain stores. The
implementation fully demonstrated the viability of Oracle9i`s clustered
database technology and Tomax is now ready to offer the combined benefits of
RETAIL.net and Oracle9i to its customers, especially large-scale retailers.
Oracle9i features Real Application Clusters (RAC) that provide virtually
limitless scalability and heighten the availability of business applications
to retailers and other businesses. Tomax and Oracle tested the capabilities
of 9i using RETAIL.net running a large number of simultaneous users and
intentionally disabled one server within the clustered database. When the
cluster failed, all of the users "failed over" to another cluster
seamlessly, without user intervention or loss of connection to RETAIL.net.
This test showed that 9i would allow Tomax to scale RETAIL.net to better
serve the scaling and availability requirements of the largest and most
demanding retailers in the industry - and do so with thin-client capability.
As the first Oracle partner to test the beta program, Tomax is excited about
the enhanced features that RETAIl.net can deliver if implemented with
Oracle9i. "We tested our applications with the Real Application Clusters
running one thousand concurrent users, and the Oracle9i Database handled the
load flawlessly. We then purposely disabled one of the servers in the
cluster and the users failed over to the other server without any
interruption in service," said Virgil Fernandez, Tomax` CTO.

The RETAIL.net application is available from Tomax. Pricing varies depending
on the size and scope of the selected solution.
