Apparel buying on the web reached $224.7 million in July, up 3.3% from $217.6 million in June, Forrester Research Inc. reports. Footwear sales online reached $67.6 million, up 32% from $51.3 million in June.
Online apparel sales in July are up significantly—a whopping 36%--from $165.3 million in July 2000. Footwear sales, too, are up 36% from July 2000’s $49.3 million.
Observers have said that the strong apparel sales, which hit over $500 million in both November and December last year, are an indication that buying on the web has gone mainstream.
