eBay opens a shopping mall featuring 20,000 retailers
EBay today officially opened 20,000 online retail stores at the eBay Stores site. EBay began testing the stores in June and took several thousand live in July.
eBay will promote eBay Stores by featuring categories and individual sellers on the eBay home page and throughout the site. It also is offering a "Spin to Win" game and sweepstakes. Players can win a $10,000 eBay shopping spree, a trip to Las Vegas and other prizes. EBay also will promote the stores at 12 Mills Mall shopping centers.
"Sellers` responsiveness to eBay Stores has been extraordinary and we`re
ready to officially open our doors to eBay buyers," said Jeff Jordan, senior
vice president, eBay. "Shoppers can expect to find merchandise available for
immediate purchase as well as participate in auction-style trading from their
favorite sellers."
eBay Stores offers buyers the ability to search within a store and
browse all items a particular merchant is selling. Also, buyers can search for
items and browse among stores across all categories from the eBay Stores
Directory, at http://www.ebaystores.com.
All eBay stores are required to accept credit cards.
