Zazzle names James Heckman as chief strategy officer

Zazzle Inc. has named James Heckman to the newly created position of chief strategy officer. Zazzle enables consumers to design their own products, such as t-shirts, calendars, mugs and greeting cards.

In his new role, Heckman will oversee all of Zazzle’s merger and acquisition, business development, branding, corporate communications and sales and marketing initiatives.

Heckman brings more than two decades of operating experience as well as major media distribution relationships to Zazzle. He founded and led several successful Internet ventures, including Rivals.com and Scout.com, which were eventually sold to Fox and Yahoo!, respectively. He also previously served as president of Heckman Media Inc., a specialty publisher of more than 60 sports publications for the NFL and major university teams.

Prior to joining Zazzle, No. 214 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, Heckman was chief strategy officer for Fox Interactive Media.
