Inovis acquires BetweenMarkets for on-demand supply chain technology
Inovis, a provider of web-enabled systems that support retailer-supplier communication, is adding on-demand or “software-as-a-service” supply chain collaboration to its product line with the purchase of BetweenMarkets. Terms were not disclosed.
“The acquisition of BetweenMarkets fuels our momentum towards delivering our business community management vision,” says Sean Feeney, president and CEO of Inovis. “With the BetweenMarkets’ applications integrated with our suite of applications and Multi-Enterprise Expert Services Hub platform, companies can change the way in which they engage the supply and demand chain for significant profitability and competitive gains.”
John Fontanella, a supply chain analyst with research and advisory firm AMR Research Inc., says the BetweenMarkets acquisition supports a trend toward more web-based networking among retailers and suppliers. “This is a great indication that the retail industry is taking networking applications like BetweenMarkets to build a community where everyone can use the same software and the same business processes,” he says. “Retailers are getting used to the idea of software-as-a-service; that’s the biggest breakthrough here.”
Applications for retailers available from BetweenMarkets, which is already integrated into the Inovis technology platform, include order exception management, deduction management and partner performance management, Inovis says. Applications for suppliers include fulfillment management, chargeback avoidance management and compliance change management.
Erik Huddleston, founder and chief technology officer of BetweenMarkets, will join Inovis as vice president of strategic applications, Inovis says. Inovis adds that it will retain all of the BetweenMarkets development, support and marketing staff.
