Third Annual Retail Systems 2001 Achievement Awards Recognize Office Depot for E-Commerce Innovation

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Jun 26, 2001 -- Office Depot, Inc., (NYSE:ODP), the world`s largest seller of office products, today, announced that it has received the E-Commerce Innovation award from Retail Systems Alert(R) advisory board members, and i2 Technologies, the sponsoring company. The E-Commerce Innovation award is presented to a pure-play, clicks-and-mortar retailer, or multi-channel retailer that has developed industry-leading Web B2C systems and practices that improve the shopping experience. The award was given to Office Depot for its success in extending its online product catalog and Web functionality to the phone by using telephony technology powered by NetByTel.

Bill Seltzer, Chief Information Officer for Office Depot was presented with the award at the Third Annual Retail Systems 2001 Achievement Awards held on June 25, 2001. The event took place during an invitation only ceremony held in conjunction with Retail Systems 2001 Conference & Exposition, America`s Leading Retail IT Show. Award recipients were also announced during the opening day ceremonies of Retail Systems 2001, held June 25-28 at McCormick Place in Chicago, Illinois.

The Retail Systems 2001 Achievement Awards, sponsored by i2 Technologies, honor outstanding examples of systems and interactive applications that have resulted in more effective customer service and improved business processes. They recognize individuals and companies whose efforts and company-wide dedication to information technology have raised standards throughout the industry.
