Keynote Speakers Patricia Seybold, Greg Girard, Phil Lempert, Accenture And
IBM Join Leading Retailers in Discussing Retail Issues and Trends
MINNEAPOLIS, June 29 -- Retek Inc. (Nasdaq: RETK), the
leading provider of solutions that help the retail industry create, manage and
fulfill consumer demand, will host Velocity 2001, a global retail conference
to address technology issues and trends in the retail industry. The annual
conference, held September 9-12, 2001 at the Minneapolis Convention Center,
offers attendees a chance to meet and network with leading retail analysts,
industry experts, retailers and retail suppliers.
Keynote Patricia Seybold, founder of the Patricia Seybold Group, will kick
off Velocity 2001 with a presentation on customer-driven business, based on
her new book, The Customer Revolution. Seybold will discuss the shift in
business drivers and today`s critical metrics for success that measure
customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Other keynote session speakers include Greg Girard, vice president of
retail application strategies at AMR Research; Philip Lempert, the Supermarket
Guru; Robert Hafker, Retail Industry National Practice Executive at IBM; and
Bob Willet, Global Managing Partner at Accenture.
Breakout sessions will be presented by industry experts and global
retailers speaking about their own implementation strategies, retail systems
experiences and project recommendations. Topics will be focused on the four
areas of retail systems: CRM, merchandising, supply chain and logistics. In
addition, separate breakout workshops will be held to address Retek-specific
implementations, products and results achieved with Retek.
After the sessions each evening, Velocity 2001 will have an array of
entertainment for attendees. Fashion Forward on Monday evening will spotlight
apparel and trendy merchandise during a high-energy cocktail party/runway
fashion show. One-of-a-kind creations from guest designers will be shown, and
an internationally themed dinner and dancing follows at Seasons, featuring
striking skyline-views of Minneapolis.
Tuesday Night`s Star Party, held at Minneapolis` McNamara Center, will
start with champagne and follow with a full night of food, music and comedy
with featured entertainer comedian Tom Pappas.
Individual registration for Velocity 2001 is $1,195 on or before June 30,
