Dell to add 1,000 workers in contact center expansion

To accommodate its growth in the U.S. and Canada, Dell Inc. plans to expand its Nashville, TN-based customer contact center operations and add up to 1,000 employees over the next several quarters, Dell reports.

"Our continued Americas growth, combined with the quality of this area`s workforce, made the decision to expand our operations here an easy one," said CEO Kevin Rollins. “Today’s announcement reconfirms our commitment to keeping Nashville and middle Tennessee as one of our primary operations sites in the Americas region.”

Since launching its Tennessee contact center operations in August 1999 with 200 employees, Dell has expanded it workforce there to about 3,500. The expansion will increase that total to as many as 4,500 employees, Dell said.

Dell currently operates a 360,000-square-foot Nashville office facility that houses its technical support call center and sales operations. It also operates in middle Tennessee a 260,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and a 250,000-square-foot fulfillment center that services customers in the eastern U.S.
