Technology research and consulting firm Aberdeen Group has added two analysts, Russ Klein and Greg Belkin, to its retail industry practice to expand the firm’s coverage of multi-channel integration and new technologies, says John Fontanella, an industry analyst who was recently named service director for retail and edge technologies.
“In this new direction for our retail practice, we’ll be talking more to the CIO,” says Fontanella, whose focus covers emerging areas like mobile devices, RFID and new applications of retail kiosks. Aberdeen is also looking to fill a new position for an analyst covering retail merchandising and other headquarters-based operations, Fontanella says.
Klein, with a background in e-commerce technology, will concentrate on multi-channel integration, connections between retailers and suppliers, and internal systems for managing retail operations and employees. One of his particular areas of focus will be web portal technology and how retailers can use portals to support their store operations.
Belkin is also specializing in retail processes and technologies to support physical stores. The Aberdeen retail practice also includes analysts Beth Enslow, who specializes in transportation, logistics and other supply chain areas, and Leslie Ament, who covers customer analytics and CRM.
Paula Rosenblum, former director of retail research, has left Aberdeen to join Retail Systems Alert Group.
