CDUniverse.com looks at a site re-design while sales boom
Online sales at CDUniverse.com grew 75% last year to $22.6 million from $12.9 million the year before, John Salai, director of marketing, tells Internet Retailer.
Salai says a re-designed site will launch in the next few months, with a new look and feel and a re-organization of content that will make the site easier to shop. Without revealing details, he says the company is also planning to expand into other entertainment categories. It also has plans to expand its affiliate base.
A new contract with content provider Muze, with which it has had a relationship since 1999, provides more detail about artists in addition to the music samples that the site has provided, Salai says.
CDUniverse.com hosts 4 million monthly visitors, experiences a conversion rate of 1.54% and has an average ticket of $45.41. It offers about 500,000 SKUs.
