GERS Announces Availability of VendorConnect to Streamline the Supply Chain
Internet-based electronic transaction exchange service cuts costs, simplifies processes, and shortens the order cycle for retailers and their trading partners
SAN DIEGO, October 04, 2005 – GERS Retail Systems, a leading provider of enterprise software solutions, today announced that their VendorConnect electronic transaction exchange service is available in general retail markets including apparel, jewelry, gifts, sporting goods, and other merchandise categories. VendorConnect uses the Internet for exchanging over 300 transaction types including purchase orders, purchase order acknowledgements, advance ship notices, and invoices.

GERS is leveraging five years of Internet-based transactions exchange experience into the General Retail space with VendorConnect. Their wholly owned subsidiary, FurnishNet, has led the way in outsourced EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) for the Big Ticket retail marketplace. Currently, more than 700 retailers and vendors are using the FurnishNet service, which is on track to process over 1 million purchases for the calendar year 2005.
GERS’ VendorConnect integrates Web applications, electronic data interchange (EDI), XML, and email into a unique "Any-to-Any" exchange, then translates data files into appropriate formats for the electronic flow of information between trading partners of any size, running on any corporate system. Because VendorConnect is able to transfer data without the use of a VAN, the need for expensive EDI mapping software as well as a traditional EDI VAN network are eliminated, thereby reducing expenses and simplifying connectivity.
