Giant Eagle Takes a Giant Leap Forward with Aldata’s G.O.L.D.
Retailer cites rich functional coverage, integrated technology and solid track record in servicing daily goods sector as factors in its selection.
ATLANTA, GA – October 5, 2005 -- Aldata Solution, Inc., a global provider of integrated merchandise management and supply chain solutions for high volume retailers, today announced that Giant Eagle, one of the nation’s largest food retailers and food distributors, has selected Aldata’s G.O.L.D. to improve product, merchandising and replenishment management operations across its 138 corporate and 81 independently owned and operated stores throughout western Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland. The first phase of the implementation is slated for completion by second quarter 2006.
Aldata’s G.O.L.D. modernizes Giant Eagle’s current supply chain management systems and adds several new features and functionalities, including the creation of a centralized database for all of its item-related data organization-wide; greater flexibility in managing information related to its vast array of items such as product assortment, pricing and promotions; and managing the ways in which these items are purchased, stocked and sold. Aldata’s G.O.L.D. is expected to ultimately provide Giant Eagle with the reliable data it needs to make faster and more accurate decisions and to help the retailer achieve improved inventory control and store replenishment optimization.
“Our reasons for selecting Aldata G.O.L.D. were two-fold, including the results of an extensive comparison between systems and technologies and Aldata’s proven references as a global software supplier to daily supply chains. The comprehensive and rich functional coverage of G.O.L.D. in tandem with Aldata’s deep understanding of our operational needs were also major deciding factors. It is vital that our software supplier understands our business environment, the competitive challenges we encounter and our strategy for future growth and success”, states Russell G. Ross, Chief Information Officer of Giant Eagle Inc.
Neil Thall, CEO of Aldata Solution, Inc., states, “The addition of Giant Eagle to our user community marks another great win for Aldata in the US and, more importantly, attests to our domain expertise in the retail technology sector, specifically the grocery segment. We look forward to working with Giant Eagle, one of the most innovative and fastest growing retailers in the US, and to helping them strengthen their business operations and overall competitiveness through the use of our G.O.L.D. software.”
BearingPoint, Inc., (NYSE:BE), a leading global management and technology consulting firm and one of Aldata’s certified systems integration partners, played a significant role in the process. Said John Hoeller, Managing Director of BearingPoint’s Retail Group, “Introducing Aldata to Giant Eagle continues our tradition of delivering excellence to our clients - in this case, Giant Eagle, with whom we have a longstanding relationship. The integrated nature and scalability of Aldata’s G.O.L.D. software along with its unique features for the grocery industry made it a good fit for Giant Eagle.”
