Sears.com expands gifts with shops for Harry and David and A.K.A Gourmet

Sears.com is expanding its gift offerings through dedicated shops offering products from Harry and David and A.K.A. Gourmet, marking the first time Sears has opened its web site to other merchants. Sears is making the baskets available only online.

Sears.com also presents dedicated online "stores" for selling organized products from manufacturers such as Sony Corp. and Panasonic, and it merchandises in online "catalog" sections furniture and other products made available direct from manufacturers, but until now it has not worked with other retailers.

From the Sears.com home page, shoppers can click on "Gifts," then "Gourmet Gifts and Specialty Foods," then a link for "Harry and David Shop." A separate link to "Gift Baskets and Sets" takes shoppers to a combined shop for Harry and David and A.K.A Gourmet.

The baskets range from a $17.95 fruit cake from Harry and David to assorted types and sizes of food baskets from both gift merchants. A search for "food baskets" shows the most expensive item as a $198.95 Grand Gourmet basket from A.K.A. Gourmet.

Sears and its new partners did not release the terms of their selling arrangements. Shoppers can browse for the gift baskets by type of item or price as well conduct a general site search.
