Commenting on the results, John Buchanan, Chairman of Retek said, "I am very pleased with Retek`s second quarter results as the Company continued to perform well. That success is a direct result of our broad product portfolio and our ability to deliver strong ROI performance and rapid speed to benefit to retailers in all the major sub-segments of the industry. Growth continued to be strong in all geographies and across the broad product footprint.
Expense management was good in the quarter with operating expenses rising only 4% compared with the first quarter of 2001. Retek`s return to operational profitability and continued cash generation were also bright spots in the quarter.
Our sales pipeline continues to look healthy and we have excellent visibility on software license revenues with over 65% of our second half, 2001 software license objective already under contract."
