Alibris names a new top executive

Online books retailer Alibris Inc. has a new chief executive officer.

The company, No. 117 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, has promoted Brian Elliott to CEO to replace Martin Manley, who is leaving to start another company.

Elliott, who was previously the company’s president and chief operating officer responsible for overall operating priorities, management, and performance, joined Alibris in 2000. Prior to Alibris, Elliott was a market analyst and consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, focusing on e-commerce opportunities, growth strategies, and partnerships.

Manley founded Alibris in 1997 after serving as an assistant secretary of labor in the Clinton administration. Manley also worked as a consultant with McKinsey & Co. and Waterman & Co.
