Scottsdale, Ariz. – August 1, 2001 –
JDA® Software Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: JDAS) announced that Global Sports, Inc. (Nasdaq: GSPT), a leading developer and operator of e-commerce sporting goods businesses, is implementing the Portfolio™ Retail IDEAS data warehouse to augment their business intelligence capabilities. Global Sports is already using JDA’s integrated Merchandise Management System™ (MMS®) and MMS.com™ to manage and grow its unique e-commerce sporting goods business. With JDA at the core of its inventory management, Global Sports handles over 160,000 SKUs, 50,000 products, and approximately 1,000 brands.
Global Sports develops and operates the e-commerce sporting goods businesses of retailers, media companies, and professional sports organizations. Global Sports currently operates 20 partners’ sporting goods Web sites.
"With JDA, we have enhanced our scalable, common infrastructure which allows us to incorporate additional partners quickly and cost effectively into our existing business," stated Mark Reese, Global Sports’ Chief Operating Officer. Reese continued, "We are trusted by the biggest retail sporting goods companies in the United States to represent their brands online. We believe that the integration of Retail IDEAS with MMS will enable us to efficiently manage our inventory costs and increase our service levels."
Reese also added, "Global Sports selected Retail IDEAS based on the past benefits that we have achieved with JDA. Through this integration of Retail IDEAS with MMS, Global Sports is better prepared to handle the fluctuations in order volumes which is a part of the sporting goods business."
"In these difficult economic times, Global Sports is growing its business and increasing its IT investment with proven value-added applications such as Retail IDEAS," remarked Herb Cline, JDA’s Vice President of U.S. Operations. "We value our long term partnership with Global Sports and look forward to helping them further improve efficiencies, reduce operational costs and achieve extended ROI results.
