TheCard adds Internet transaction security via mobile phone

TheCard Scandinavia AB is adding additional security for Internet transactions through an agreement with MobiClear Card Security. MobiClear uses a mobile phone to authorize transactions and to switch on and off a user’s debit or credit accounts.

MobiClear Card Security provides additional security for card transactions by requiring customers to enter a four-digit personal identification number via mobile phone. If the user cannot enter the correct code, the transaction will not go through. In addition to Internet transactions, the service can be used for all types of transactions within the travel industry, shops and restaurants.

MobiClear On/Off Card Security allows customers to use their mobile phones to switch off credit and debit cards when not in use. The MobiClear Card Security services will be launched in March 2008.

TheCard is a travel account with a bank account managed through a web interface and connected to a Visa card.
