VitalStream Rolls Out Significant Content Delivery Network Infrastructure Upgrade to Support Rapid Customer Growth
IRVINE, CA – October 24, 2005 – VitalStream, Inc. (OTCBB: VSTH), the world leader in video streaming, has strengthened its Content Delivery Network (CDN) with a multimillion dollar investment in technology and capacity to service current customers experiencing growth and establish a best-in-class platform for future growth.
“Customer demands for streaming media are increasing at exponential rates. Our CDN is ideally suited to deliver a full suite of rich media services, including DVD-quality video, to our rapidly growing customer base,” said Jack Waterman, CEO of VitalStream. “Our recent build-out, combined with our new Professional Services Organization, ensures that our customers have the industry-leading support they need, now and in the future, with regard to network, staffing and business intelligence.”
This infrastructure upgrade is the final phase in VitalStream’s year long expansion, resulting in the industry’s most advanced fully-scalable network designed to reliably service the most aggressive growth scenarios already being realized by all users of rich streaming technology. VitalStream currently provides more than 600 customers with world class content delivery services, and continues to project significant growth through 2006.
A Storage Area Network (SAN) solution from Hitachi, combined with over 1,000 new servers distributed among VitalStream’s multiple data centers with 10 Gigabit peering, have strengthened the network’s infrastructure by dramatically increasing its scalability and capacity. In conjunction with this advancement, which was driven by exceptional customer growth, VitalStream has enhanced its globally load-balanced traffic management feature, improving its ability to select the ideal data center from which to initiate each individual data stream. This build-out underscores VitalStream’s commitment to maintaining its CDN capacity significantly ahead of any industry demand, and is backed by VitalStream’s updated service level agreement promising premium, reliable performance. Further upgrades will continuously be made to ensure this commitment is met.
VitalStream’s next generation of Streaming Services for Flash Video and Windows Media are the most secure, reliable video streaming products available, offering high-quality video, enhanced, globally load-balanced traffic management, authentication services, support for raw data logs and Web services-based reporting. Backed by the company’s new Professional Services Organization (PSO), a team of dedicated engineers and programmers being made available to create customized software solutions for customers, VitalStream offers enriched features with its latest generation of video streaming products.
Additionally, a recent report by StreamingMedia.com, “The Cost of CDN and Streaming Services,” places VitalStream as the top CDN after Akamai, as reported by respondents to StreamingMedia.com’s survey of 253 users and buyers of streaming media services. Perceived by CDN customers as the leading video streaming vendor, VitalStream took 53.3% of the first, second and third place votes.
“The StreamingMedia.com survey reflects the quality of our newly designed network, capable of scaling to any growth and traffic demand with faster time-to-market,” said Jack Waterman, CEO of VitalStream. “Our superior availability and performance guarantee provides the primary financial motivation for outsourcing media delivery, meeting the demands of companies seeking CDNs.
