Bidz.com is sold on non-auction site and international markets
Web-only jewelry auctioneer Bidz.com Inc. plans to launch a non-auction site early next year in order to reach into the high-end diamond sales market and show up on natural search engines. Buyz.com also will be available in Spanish, German and Arabic language versions.
Buyz.com is expected to go live in the first quarter of 2008 and will offer a full line of jewelry products, CEO David Zinberg tells Internet Retailer. The new site will provide a number of benefits compared to Bidz.com, including adding high-end diamonds that the auction site doesn’t carry.
“First, it will give us products – more expensive items – that we don’t currently auction,” Zinberg says. “Second, as an auction site we can’t get traffic from comparative shopping portals because we don’t have advertised prices. And we don’t come up on natural searches now, but we will with static pages.”
Pages on Bidz.com, No. 86 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, continuously update with the latest bids and time remaining on each auction item. The non-auction format will open the door to traffic from comparative shopping sites.
Buyz.com will be available in a Spanish version early next year, followed by German and Arabic versions. Each version takes about 60 days to develop, Zinberg says. If those are successful the company will expand its language offerings, he adds.
