Top Hardware Co-ops Standardize on E3
Top Hardware Co-ops Standardize on E3 for Private Exchanges
Major Players in Hardware Industry Collaborating with Suppliers via E3 Systems
CHICAGO (August 14, 2001) -- E3 Corporation announced at the National Hardware Show & Building Products Exposition here today that the top five hardware co-ops in North America have chosen E3 as their vendor of choice for inventory management solutions. In addition, E3 staked a claim as the de facto standard for private exchanges in the industry. E3’s Collaborative Planning, Forecasting, and Replenishment (CPFR) solutions include more than 50 live trading pairs collaborating via E3 solutions -- an unparalleled number which includes four of the top five hardware co-ops either utilizing established programs or in the process of implementing systems.
The top five hardware co-ops in North America -- Ace Hardware, Do it Best Corp., Home Hardware Stores Ltd., Rona Inc., and True Value -- are all E3 customers. For these five customers alone, E3 solutions manage more than 3 million SKU locations at approximately
65 wholesale/retail locations across the continent.
Ace Hardware and True Value, the largest two hardware co-ops in the U.S., are expanding successful collaborative replenishment programs based on E3’s CPFR technology. Leading vendors, including Delta Faucet, Hy-Ko, L.R. Nelson, Manco Inc., PlumbPak, Spectrum Brands and others have established trading pairs with True Value and/or Ace Hardware. Additionally, Chapin Manufacturing, Genova Products, Liquid Nails, and Woodstream are in the process of implementing collaborative commerce programs with either one or both of the co-ops.
"The private exchanges we’re leveraging with our retail partners have allowed us to work together to develop a single, shared forecast and to quickly turn those forecasts into executable orders. The results, as reflected in our reduced costs and improved service levels, have been dramatic." said Mike Bass, Vice-President, Hy-Ko Products Company. "Due to these results, and because the solution is easily replicated, we anticipate expanding our relationships with other retail partners to leverage additional private exchanges."
Momentum Continues to Build
Rona Inc. -- the leading distributor and retailer of hardware products, home renovation, and building materials and gardening supplies in Canada -- announced in June its decision to install a collaborative replenishment solution from E3, the first production rollouts to focus on store-level CPFR forecasting and replenishment. And, Do it Best Corp., with 4,400 independently owned stores in the U.S. and 42 other countries, is planning to follow up on their current E3 implementation with a program to capitalize on the collaborative community already participating with E3 customers in the hardware industry.
"E3’s momentum in the hardware marketplace continues to accelerate, delivering exceptional value to our customers thanks to the replicable and consistent results of our best-in-class solutions," said Richard Lynch, president and CEO of E3 Corporation. "Our customers in the hardware co-op arena are the best in the business because they know how to deliver results. That’s why they’ve chosen to partner with us to meet the unique challenges of inventory management in this demanding market; we deliver results."
