Round 1 To Amazon

Seattle, Wash.-based (www.amazon.com) Amazon.com has won the first battle of its patent infringement lawsuit against New York City-based (www.barnesandnoble.com) Barnesandnoble.com.
     Late Wednesday, a federal district judge granted Amazon.com a preliminary injunction protecting its patented 1-Click technology from being copied by online competitors. The injunction prohibits Barnesandnoble.com from using its copycat version of Amazon.com's technology while the lawsuit is pending. Amazon.com filed the suit on October 20, alleging that Barnesandnoble.com had illegally copied the 1-Click technology, which retains billing and shipping information, allowing returning customers the convenience of entering that information with the click of a mouse.
