After a federal district court earlier this week barred New York City-based Barnesandnoble.com from using one-click checkout technology while a patent infringement suit filed by Seattle-based Amazon.com is pending, Barnes & Noble says it will continue with the launch of a new "express checkout" that will replace the current "express lane" now used on the site. The one-click feature under dispute allows returning customers to access personal information, including credit card number and address, without having to rekey the information.
     Barnes & Noble says its updated checkout feature, in the works for several months, was expedited to comply with the ruling. The company will say only that the feature is "new and different" from the disputed checkout application.
