Nike new site offers made-to-order items

NikeTown Online has a new look and new technology that lets shoppers create personalized products. Visitors can use what Nike calls Nike iD to choose the color schemes and add things like a name, saying or number to shoes and other items. The personalized items are custom-made and take two to three weeks to ship; they cost $10 more than the retail price. A disclaimer says Nike can refuse personal identifications if there are trademark conflicts or if it feels the wording is not appropriate for its product. Other improvements to the site include a gift and product recommender, technology to allow 3-D viewing and gift certificates.
