Multi-channel flooring retailer iFloor.com is offering online shoppers a $1 million limited warranty for web purchases not covered under a manufacturer’s warranty.
The policy, which iFloor launched in November, offers the coverage in the event that a customer's new hardwood or laminate flooring warranty claim is denied by a manufacturer specifically because they made their purchase online. The warranty is complimentary for every iFloor customer and protects the buyer under the same terms as the manufacturer’s original product warranty, the retailer says.
“Our $1 million warranty program is another sign of our ongoing commitment to take a leadership position in the industry by continuing to provide unparalleled peace-of-mind and value to the flooring customer,” says iFloor CEO Steve Simonson.
Though he didn’t mention names, iFloor director of marketing Bryan Simonson says some major flooring manufacturers are denying warranty claims if the purchase was made online rather than in a conventional store. A manufacturer may also choose to offer a shorter-term warranty if the purchase was made over the web, says Simonson.
IFloor, No. 169 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, uses its own call center and home inspectors to process and validate claims. To be eligible for the warranty, customers must purchase new flooring online at iFloor.com.
The iFloor warranty coverage is the same as the manufacturer’s warranty. If the claim is not valid under the manufacturer’s normal terms, it is also not valid under iFloor’s limited warranty, the retailer says. To qualify for the iFloor warranty shoppers must also produce documentation that the claim has already been denied by the manufacturer.
IFloor has 36 retail stores nationwide offering more than 70,000 products, including hardwood, laminate, bamboo and cork floors.
