Furniture.com finds and makes an acquisition

Furniture.com has acquired the assets of FurnitureFind.com, an online retailer based in South Bend, IN.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but Furniture.com, No. 161 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, will use the acquisition to offer a broader shopping experience to online furniture buyers.

Furniture.com’s principal e-commerce model is working with chain retailers such as Leon’s Furniture Ltd. and RoomStore Furniture and providing them with a web technology platform and transaction processing capability. The acquisition of FurnitureFind.com gives Furniture.com a bigger inventory and relationships with more manufacturers. The FurnitureFind.com inventory includes 8,000 products from more than 100 manufacturers.

“We look forward to introducing ourselves to new consumers through the FurnitureFind name,” says Furniture.com CEO Carl Prindle. “We’re also intrigued by the opportunity to build upon FurnitureFind’s expertise with direct ship e-commerce. We’ve experienced tremendous success with our brick-and-mortar based model. This acquisition allows us to explore augmenting this model by shipping certain categories of merchandise directly from manufacturers to consumers.”

Furniture.com will also operate FurnitureFind.com in partnership with CSN Stores Inc., No. 107 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide, and a niche online retailer with more than 100 sites that sell products that range from indoor and outdoor furniture to housewares and garden tools.
