A new birthday reminder application on Facebook has reached nearly 2 million users in its first month of implementation on the social networking site, says its creator, BigDates Solutions. The service sends subscribed Facebook members reminders on important dates such as the birthdays of family and friends, with links in the e-mail message to the opportunity to send e-cards, buy paper cards, gift cards and gifts.
Using data supplied by Facebook users, the Birthday Calendar also can send advance notice alerts on important dates to subscribers using online NewsFeeds, and via cell phones as well as by e-mail. The service includes suggestions for free e-cards, and for paper greeting cards which also can be purchased from BigDates. When delivered by e-mail, the reminders include links to both options as well as links to the ability to purchase gift cards on the site of a third party vendor, as well as link to suggested gifts that can be purchased through the web site of partner Gifts.com.
“Outside of Facebook, it can take hours to collect all the dates needed to set us a useful reminder service. With Birthday Calendar built on the Facebook platform, it happens instantaneously with just a few clicks,” says Nasser Gaemi, BigDates Solutions CEO.
BigDates Solutions also powers gift remainder and e-card services at retailers including 1-800-Flowers.com, BarnesandNoble.com, Overstock.com and others. BigDates notes that with more than 1.9 million Facebook users from more than 100 countries having signed up to use the application to date, Birthday Calendar is a top 100 application in a field of more than 10,000 applications created on the Facebook platform.
