LinkShare introduces new ad tracking technology

LinkShare Corp., a provider of pay-per-action affiliate, search and lead-generation marketing campaigns, has introduced Flex Links, code that is embedded in advertising content that automatically converts links into tracking links. The code can be used in advertising content in vehicles ranging from banner ads to online video to web page widgets.

A tracking link helps advertisers measure the number of web users who clicked on an ad and the sites from which they traveled to the advertisers’ web sites. LinkShare announced that the first customer for the new technology offering is ShopNBC.com. ShopNBC.com, which has used LinkShare for other affiliate marketing offerings, is a property of ValueVision Media Inc.

“Flex Links enables us to syndicate our product merchandising through new and unique interactive means with our affiliate partners,” says Geoff Smith, vice president of ShopNBC.com. “Flex Links will enable us to syndicate our breadth of live and archived video sales presentations in a simple and easy-to-implement means, providing our affiliates with an outstanding new sales tool.”

ShopNBC.com is No. 64 in the Internet Retailer Top 500 Guide. It hit $177.3 million in revenue in 2006.
