People Power Doubles Web Business
A new study by research firm Yankelovich Partners (www.yankelovich.com), Norwalk, Conn., shows a 100% increase in consumers who purchase products or services online.
The Yankelovich Monitor study, which interviewed more than 2,500 Americans, reveals that 92% feel "more knowledgeable and powerful today about what they buy and where they shop than ever before." As a result, 64% say the single most important change created by the Internet is giving consumers more control.
Another key finding: 60% of consumers purchase online to avoid the hassles of going to a store, while 56% say shopping online allows them the convenience of shopping anytime--day or night.
