Gift Engine Driving E-Tailers

(www.giftedsolutions.com) Gifted Solutions has released its proprietary Gift Services Engine following a series of what it says were "highly successful" field trials among a group of online retailers. The Phoenix-based company, founded in October, says it already has 13 merchant and portal Web sites as customers with nearly two dozen additional agreements pending, including four of the top-ten U.S. portal sites.

     GSE and its associated tool suite is a turnkey e-commerce application designed to promote and transact gift purchases on any Web site based on a profile of the gift recipient as well as the preferences of the gift buyer. It offers merchant and Web portal operators the ability to retain customers year round, not just during the Christmas season, the company says, and it allows Web site operators the ability to buy a complete support system with no front-end investment. GSE enables site operators to increase speed to market and realize revenues quicker, the firm adds, while offering consumers a centralized resource for their gift-giving needs.

     "From a marketing perspective, a key advantage of the GSE is that it helps increase the 'stickiness' factor, which also helps build site brand loyalty," says Annette Marino, founder and CEO of Gifted Solutions and a former e-commerce consultant to SkyMall and the Sharper Image.

     The Gift Services Engine comes with a suite of coordinated components that cater to gift buyers and their motivations, used in combination with a database of thousands of products. The suite includes an Email Event Reminder, a Wish List developer, a Gift History record and a Popular Product Recommendations. GSE also includes other elements designed to stimulate gift purchases, such as Gift Profiles, Personalized Gift Catalogs, a Shopping Assistant, a Quick Buy three-click, fast-purchase feature and a Gift Finder search engine).

     In addition to providing front-end services, GSE centralizes management of backoffice functions, such as merchandising, Web-page order entry, a multi-merchant shopping cart, order conveyance, credit card processing, order fulfillment, shipping and customer service to consumers, says the firm.

     Current Gifted Solutions customers include Spiegel, SalesLogix, GiftPoint, PC Flowers & Gifts, Nightingale Conant Corp., BATNET1, addAshop and Mom.com as well as organizations such as AARP, AAA and the American Federation of Teachers, the company says.
