Wal-Mart names Carter Cast as president of Walmart.com
Carter Cast has left his position as chief marketing officer at eBay Inc. to return to Walmart.com as its new president. He succeeds and now reports to John Fleming, who was promoted to chief marketing officer for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
“Carter is an outstanding e-commerce and management talent who will help us further leverage the Wal-Mart brand and deepen our online commitment to customers,” Fleming said. Cast will focus on expanding Walmart.com’s merchandise assortment and product information, plus develop services that integrate with Wal-Mart Stores, Wal-Mart said.
Cast first joined Walmart.com in 2000 as vice president of marketing, and in 2002 was promoted to senior vice president of Internet merchandising and marketing. He oversaw the launch of Walmart.com’s music downloads service and apparel business, and he managed the site’s continued expansion of categories including home furniture and electronics.
