Investment Kit Peddled Through Amazon.com

E*Trade Group Inc., will offer a special retail product through Seattle-based online retailer Amazon.com that will allow consumers to learn about and participate in online investing. The E*Trade Investment Kit contains an E*Trade investing application kit, the Motley Fool Investment Guide, information about online investing and a $100 investment voucher that can be deposited into any new E*Trade account. This offer is available on the Amazon Web site as well as at Jewel-Osco and Harris Teeter retail outlets in the South and Midwest. The suggested retail price for the kits is $49.99, says the Menlo Park, Calif.-based online brokerage firm. In October, the two companies got together to launch a cobranded bookstore on the Destination E*Trade Web site. Available through E*Trade's Marketplace, the bookstore offers books on personal finance and online investing at Amazon's reduced prices, the companies say.
