Web Site Performance Improves for Final Holiday Shopping Week

Retailers may have something to smile about now that the holiday rush is over. According to this week's
Service Metrics TurboSanta report, Web performance improved by 35% for week ending Dec. 26.

The report shows that overall site availability was up slightly to 98% from 97% the prior week. Performance scores also improved, showing 4.26 seconds--a 1.48 second increase over the previous week of 5.74 seconds.

In addition, the report confirms that while last minute shoppers may have hit the malls, the improvement in overall performance indicates that the online holiday shopping season has ended. However, gift returns have begun and TurboSanta reports it will continue monitoring Web sites as consumers request gift exchanges and refunds.
